Meet Our Coaching Staff

  • Brian Simmons - Head Coach

    Coach Simmons is entering his 9th season (2024) as head coach of the Highlanders. Coach Simmons came to McLean in 2016 with a lifetime of lacrosse experience. In 2015, while coaching Fairfax HS, he was named Liberty District Head Coach of the year. Coach Simmons led Fairfax to its best regular season record, hosted its first play-off game and secured its first trip to the regional tournament in over a decade. Coach Simmons started his coaching career at Carmel HS in Monterey CA. In his second year of coaching at Carmel HS as the defensive coach, he was selected as the Assistant Coach of the year in the Northern California region.

    Coach Simmons has been a student of the game since the time he was in first grade where he routinely attended Syracuse University men’s lacrosse games. He was selected First team all-county in his senior year at Cicero-North Syracuse HS. He continued his playing career at Elmira College where he was a 4-year starter and captain in his senior year. He helped Elmira College reach a ranking in the top ten for the first time in school history.

    Coach Simmons resides in Fairfax County with his wife and 3 daughters (Sierra, Keelin and Shaelan). They are often found running in the bleachers while enjoying the games.

  • Coach Kelly

    Coach Kelly is entering his 6th season with the Highlanders. This will be his third year as Offensive Coordinator. Before that he spent two seasons as the JV head coach. He is a proponent of an up-tempo, aggressive style of play on both sides of the ball which he developed his from his playing days at the Trinity Pawling School (NY). As a player he captained the lacrosse program, facing some of the best players in the nation while also earning First Team All-New England honors. Coach Kelly began his coaching career working with the Vienna Youth Lacrosse program and serves as an assistant football coach at McLean and is head coach of the 2024 Top Caliber travel team.

  • Coach McGrath

    is entering his 4th season with Highlander. Coach McGrath is an offensive assistant. Coach McGrath focuses on individual skills (stickwork, shooting, stick protection, dodging, footwork and more). He was a 4-year varsity player at Central Bucks South High School in Warrington, PA where he accumulated over 100 goals. He was awarded first team all-conference Junior and Senior years. Coach McGrath continued his playing career at York College PA were his was again a 4-year starter and accumulated 190 career points (Averaged 3 PPG). At York College:

  • Assistant Coach - Mason Moon

  • Assistant Coach - Zak Sealy

    Coach Sealy is entering his first season with the Highlanders. Coach Sealy comes from Cicero-North Syracuse HS where he spent the last 5 years as an assistant coach. He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant for Onondaga Community College in 2018, winning an NJCAA National Championship. As a player, Coach Sealy spent 2 years at Onondaga Community College where he won two NJCAA National Championships. After OCC, he transferred to Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. At Le Moyne, Coach Sealy was a part of the 2016 NCAA DII National Championship team.

    Coach Sealy was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. He attended Christian Brothers Academy where he was a four year varsity starter and was captain his senior year. He has been around lacrosse for his entire life and has been mentored by some of the best coaches in the game.

  • Assistant Coach - Sam Ramatowski

    Coach Ramatowski is entering his 3rd season with the Highlanders. He was a three-year varsity player at Annapolis Area Christian School, where he won the 2009 MIAA B Conference Championship and was awarded All-MIAA his senior year. Coach Ramatowski continued his playing career at Stevenson University, where accumulated 42 groundballs and took 165 faceoffs. At Stevenson University:

    Coach Ramatowski began his coaching career working with various age groups with Madlax and last coached both Varsity and JV at Bishop O’Connell during the 2018-2019 season.

  • Coach Miles Collins

    Coach Collins is entering his second season with the Highlanders. As an assistant on the varsity team, he will be running the substitution box, helping on defense, and organizing the faceoffs and wings. Coach Collins began his coaching career with Virginia Lacrosse Club (VLC) where he played from 8th-12th grade and is currently an assistant coach for the 2024 team. Coach Collins is a 2017 graduate from McLean High School where he was a 4-year varsity lacrosse starter playing under Coach Simmons his last 2 years. He went on to play for Christopher Newport University's DIII lacrosse program. At CNU Coach Collins was a 2-way midfielder for the Captains, playing five seasons, appearing in 75 games, and recording 43 points in his career. At CNU:
